EPD CERTIFICATION

Over the years, Coopservice has developed a true "green" approach to reduce the environmental impact of its activities, implementing European and international guidelines on environmental aspects and defining a path aimed at providing a sustainable service, from all points of view: environmental, economic and social.

The main aim pursued is the gradual reduction of waste, optimisation of the resources used through integrated management of all aspects of the service and aimed at achieving certain fundamental objectives:

  • Efficiency and savings in the use of resources, in particular energy and consequent reduction of CO2 emissions
  • Reduction in the use of hazardous substances
  • Quantitative reduction of waste produced

In July 2015, Coopservice, among the first 10 companies in Europe, obtained the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification for the category "Professional cleaning services for buildings".

The EPD is an innovative instrument of transparency standardised by ISO proposed by the recent Green Paper on Integrated Product Policies of the European Commission, which aims to inform and guarantee the client about the environmental performance of the products/services, such as the reduced consumption of raw materials associated with their production, the absence of hazardous or polluting substances, the energy or water savings that their use entails.

EPD certification uses the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis methodology - regulated by ISO 14040 standards - to assess the environmental impacts associated with a product or process, by identifying and quantifying the consumption of materials and energy, emissions into the environment, and assessing opportunities to reduce these impacts.

The LCA therefore provides the information basis for demonstrating to the consumer how the service interacts with the environment, highlighting the most significant environmental characteristics and the proposed targets for improving its environmental performance.
